Palácio Marquês de Pombal Gardens

The Gardens and Palace of the Marquês de Pombal, classified as a national monument since 1953, is an example of the valuable heritage of the 18th century. Inspired in Versailles was designed by Carlos Mardel, a famous Hungarian architect who played a privileged role in the Pombaline reconstruction of Lisbon, when of the 1755 earthquake. Dreamlike scenography, right on the edge of Lisbon and former residence of the inventor of modern Lisbon, with multiple walking and leisure areas, will allow for a unique operatic experience.
The palace served as the official residence of Sebastião José de Carvalho e Melo, also known as Conde de Oeiras and Marquês de Pombal, from which the building's name was derived.
The palace and gardens are characterized by having rare architectural and artistic elements (stucco, tiles, statues, etc.) of great beauty.
