The awaited cycle Cine-opera finally taking place in partnership with Cinemateca Portuguesa, proposing mutual evocation and contamination between cinema and opera.

 

Ingmar Bergman saw the Magic Flute when he was 12 years old and materializes his passion for this opera, with this irresistible version filmed in the theatre for the Swedish television, masterfully combining Mozart’s last opera performance, with the audience reation while experience it, the backstage with Papageno almost missing his entrance aria, the magic of theatrical alive performance and interpreters/characters on and beyond stage.

 

Queen of the night offers her daughter Pamina to prince Tamino, but first, he should bring her back from the domains of her father Sarastro. She gives Tamino a magic flute and magic bells to the bird catcher Papageno, who wants to find a bride as well. The duo begins a journey of discovery full of adventures.
