E la nave va Film by Federico Fellini (1920 - 1993)
Fellini’s great homage to opera
Starting the Cine-opera cycle, crossing the world of cinema and opera, the great Italian director pays homage to the world of opera. E la nave va is a 1983 Italian film directed by Federico Fellini.
Built as a mockumentary, it shows the events that took place aboard a luxurious ship, where the eccentric friends of the late opera singer, Edmea - perhaps the greatest singer of all time - gather to spread her ashes around the island of Erimo, where she was born. In a Fellian parody with disconcerting surrealist touches, around egos, exaggerations, but also emotion, lyrical voices, and of course divas and divos, in a tribute to opera and its artifice, where a young Pina Baush appears in the middle of the cast.
