Luís T. Caetano
Luís T. Caetano was born in Elvas, Portugal, where he began his musical education in the piano programme at the Academia de Música de Elvas. During this period, he also studied acting, performing with the D. Sancho II Secondary School theatre group for three years, before beginning voice lessons at the Orfeão de Leiria.
He later continued his vocal studies at the Escola Artística de Música do Conservatório Nacional in Lisbon, where he studied singing with Ana Paula Russo, Early Music with Helena Raposo, and acting as part of his training. He subsequently completed both his Bachelor's degree in Vocal Performance and his Master's degree in Music Education at the University of Aveiro, studying under Isabel Alcobia.
He has also undertaken private study with the Spanish tenor José Luis Sola, as well as Paulo Ferreira and Alexandra Bernardo. In addition, he has participated in masterclasses on Lied and art song interpretation with João Paulo Santos and accompanist David Santos, as well as masterclasses with tenor Juhan Tralla and mezzo-soprano Mireia Pintó.
His extensive choral experience includes performing with Coro Musaico, Ensemble BomTempo, and Coro de Câmara Lisboa Cantat. In opera, he has sung with the Ópera na Academia e na Cidade chorus and the OperaFest chorus, appearing in productions of Carmen (Bizet), Cavalleria Rusticana (Mascagni), Pagliacci (Leoncavallo), Die Fledermaus (J. Strauss II), Dido and Aeneas (Purcell), and La Traviata (Verdi). He has also performed regularly in vocal octets and other chamber vocal ensembles for concerts and ceremonial events.
Most recently, he took part in the EU Erasmus+ Choralful Concert – Joint Vocal Ensemble of Fourteen European Music Academies, held at the Liszt Academy of Music (Zeneakadémia) in Budapest, where he worked under the direction of Kocsis-Holper Zoltán.
As a soloist, he performed in the operetta Alda by José Oliveira Zúquete, presented 120 years after its premiere at the Teatro José Lúcio da Silva, under the musical direction of Amadeu Oliveira. He also performed the role of Monostatos in Mozart's Die Zauberflöte at the Teatro Aveirense, directed by António Vassalo Lourenço, and appeared as Gastone in Verdi's La Traviata at the OperaFest, with performances at the Convento da Cartuxa and Europarque, under the direction of Osvaldo Ferreira.
