Tiago Amado Gomes

Portuguese baritone Tiago Amado Gomes, born in Montréal, Canada, in 1991, studied at the Lisbon School of Music (ESML), where he completed both his Bachelor's and Master's degrees in Vocal Performance under the guidance of Sílvia Mateus. He has further refined his artistry through masterclasses with distinguished musicians including Benjamin Appl, Jill Feldman, Gabriele Fontana, Christian Hilz and Susanne Rydén, as well as Alexander Technique studies with Crissman Taylor.

His operatic repertoire encompasses a wide range of leading baritone roles, including Figaro (Il Barbiere di Siviglia), Eisenstein  (Die Fledermaus), Il Conte di Almaviva (Le Nozze di Figaro), The Mad King (Eight Songs for a Mad King), and Major Domo (Vanessa). He has also appeared as Marco (Gianni Schicchi), Ben (The Telephone), Guglielmo (Così fan tutte), Guccio (Gianni Schicchi), among other roles.

An accomplished concert soloist, his repertoire includes major choral-orchestral works such as Fauré's Requiem, Brahms's Ein deutsches Requiem, Orff's Carmina Burana, Mendelssohn's Elijah and Handel's Messiah.

Tiago has collaborated with many of Portugal's leading orchestras, including the Gulbenkian Orchestra, the Lisbon Metropolitan Orchestra, the Portuguese Philharmonic Orchestra, the MPMP Ensemble and the Portuguese Chamber Orchestra, working with conductors such as Jean-Sébastien Béreau, Pedro Amaral, Yi-Chen Li, Jan Wierzba, Jean-Marc Burfin, Pedro Carneiro, Osvaldo Ferreira and João Branco. He has also performed with the Deutsches Kammerorchester Berlin.

His distinctions include the Extraordinary Musical Talent Award from the Austria Barock Akademie (2015), the Best Performance of a Portuguese Song Award from the Portuguese Rotary Foundation (2018), and the Second Prize at the Operafest Maratona Ópera XXI (2023). Alongside his operatic and concert career, he has collaborated with acclaimed theatre directors including Tiago Rodrigues, Ricardo Neves-Neves and Bruno Bravo in a number of interdisciplinary productions.
