Turandot Directed by Felix Breisach (1961)
The great Puccini classic in the Bregenz Festival’s monumental production
Puccini’s final, unfinished opera—completed by his pupil Franco Alfano—was transformed into a monumental open-air spectacle at the 2015 Bregenz Festival. Staged on the world’s largest floating lakeside stage, the production brought "a touch of Hollywood to Bregenz." It featured pyrotechnics, action sequences, acrobats, dragons, and a 72-meter-long Great Wall of China that rose imposingly from the water, reaching a height of 27 meters and dominating the set.
An operatic spectacle celebrating grandeur and ingenuity, conducted by Paolo Carignani, with set design and staging by Marco Arturo Marelli, and starring Mlada Khudoley (Turandot), Riccardo Massi (Calaf), Michail Ryssov (Timur), and Gunaqun Yu (Liù).
