Anátema Performance by Catarina Molder & Tânia Carvalho
Celebrating Camilo: What becomes forbidden, blasphemous, trauma, expiation, enigma...
In Opera Satellite, proposing unusual crossovers and new formats and explorations around operatic material, soprano Catarina Molder and dancer and choreographer Tânia Carvalho are challenged to build a performance exploring the work of Camilo Castelo Branco, to celebrate the two hundredth anniversary of the celebrated Portuguese novelist's birth. Evoking Camilo's first novel, this work will approach the recurring themes of his work: expiation, sacrifice, revenge, and the enduring human capacity to deceive, manipulate, and betray others. What becomes forbidden, blasphemous, trauma, expiation, enigma...
